Manchester Stock Exchange Listed Basement Waterproofing

Manchester Stock Exchange Listed Basement Waterproofing

Trace were commissioned to design and install the basement waterproofing for this 900m2 footprint, grade 2 listed building in central Manchester, which is now the Stock Exchange Hotel. The project was undertaken on behalf of Gary Neville - Relentless Group

  • Grade 2 listed building in the heart of Manchester

  • Large footprint waterproofing design

  • Inspection of existing wateproofing

  • Working alongside building management

Given the building's listed status, any waterproofing solutions had to be sympathetic to its historical significance. Trace Basement Systems, specialists in waterproofing listed buildings, were commissioned for the project. They designed and installed a Type C (drained protection) cavity drainage system, which is particularly suited for historic structures as it manages water ingress without altering or damaging original features.

This approach aligns with best practices for listed buildings, emphasizing reversible and non-invasive methods. Such systems allow for the preservation of the building's character while providing the necessary protection against water ingress, ensuring the basement remains dry and functional for its new role as part of a luxury hotel.
