Taken from a rafter, this is a bark sample affected by Bark borer (Ernobius Mollis). Although sometimes mistakenly confused with common furniture beetle, this beetle concentrates its galleries (‘tunnels’) within softwood bark, extending to a small degree into the outer sapwood, hence it does not require treatment, other than removing the bark.
