Established in 1974 as North West Damp Proof Services, we have used the trading name of Trace Remedial Building Services since 1980 for our damp and rot operations due to the 'local' nature of our name and the ever expanding area we covered. In 1998 we also became Trace Basement Systems and are now the largest installer of Basement Systems products in the UK (figures for product installed correct every year from 1998 through to August 2008). This means that we have dried out more flooded basements than any other contractor in the UK!

Trace Basement Systems is a member of the international network of Basement Systems Dealers covering the USA, Canada and the UK. This network is the largest in the world and employs a range of specifically designed products (many of which are patented) for basement water control, basement waterproofing and conversion.

Basement Systems products have been installed in over 100,000 properties worldwide, with more than 5 million feet of WaterGuard drainage channels and 50,000 SuperSumps, UltraSumps and TripleSafes in the ground, so are extremely tried and tested! More so than any other system on the market.

As a company, Trace have worked on more than 17,000 properties in the UK since 1974, and since joining Basement Systems in 1998, have particularly specialized in basement conversion and basement water control. At the time of writing this, we were working on or had orders in for dealing with 31 flooded basements, 17 of which were newbuild where traditional outdated 'tanking' had failed.

Forget about tanking because it only sometimes works, mostly when it's dry, or when it is protected by an internal water control system. Think instead, most safely, of water control and waterproofing.

We have held BS EN ISO9002, since 1991.

Our advice to you is protected by Professional Indemnity Insurance of £5m for waterproofing design (we are the only one to hold this much because our competitors carry only £250k or £500k at most), our work is protected by Product Liability Insurance of £5m and in addition, you receive independent insurance via The Guarantee Protection Trust, which has now formed an FSA regulated insurance company, Guarantee Protection Insurance Limited (GPI).
